Okinawa - Views From the Road
Highway 58 runs the length of the island from Naha in the south to Hedo Point on the north end.  Along the road there are many sights of land and sea.
The ocean is literally within reach in many points of the drive.  Here is a scene of an Okinawan fishing boat about 100 yards off the coast.
View of a waterfall north of Nago on Highway 58.  There is room on the highway to stop the car and look.
Another view of the same waterfall.

Heading north on what was then Highway 58 (Hwy 1) you came across the tunnel.  This was the only tunnel on the island at that time,  just north of Nago.
This picture was taken in the area of Shuri Castle.  Notice the fences and piles of debris.  The reconstruction of the area was underway.
Palm trees are literally everywhere.  These things grow wild and free all over the island.   They came in sizes from a few inches to many feet tall.
Just a typical view from up on a hill, ocean all around.  I believe this was taken in the area of Torii Station.
Just a typical country road.  This one heads east from the highway to the okuma resort area.  The little stand was selling ice and water for weary travelers.
